![]() ![]() *Functional art Form & function. Some say our society doesn't appreciate art, but we naturally respond to it all the time. Anything new that saves time or money or makes life easier is art. We've created very efficient tools, buildings, websites, etc. But they tend to be boring, stale and stagnant. We've got the function down, but we tend to forget about form. I'm not a big fan of traditional art though. Paintings and sculptures are nice to look at, but quickly become just things taking up space. Every time i see a large sculpture in a fancy hotel or government building i can't help but think how much it cost and what i would be using that space for if it were my place. It seems like a status symbol. Look how much i can afford to spend on something unnecessary. Everything can have it's place AND purpose. Easy Street Burningman 2008 made entirely out of the remnants of the Easy Street warehouse. *Animal fur clothing is cruel, expensive and limited by nature. Since the beginning of man we've been using animal fur to stay warm and look good. But now that we recognize the environmental impact, wearing animal fur has become quite the fashion faux pas. Personally i don't have anything against people who like to wear animal fur. I'm sure if the roles were reversed they'd be wearing us. I prefer faux fur anyway. I don't like to be limited by what nature has to offer. Bears and bunnies are nice, but what about frogs and snakes? I don't want to wear snake skin and you'll never find a furry frog in the forest. ![]() One man's trash is another man's treasure. We all love to go hunting for treasures at thrift stores and we're fortunate to be living in a place where we have plenty of places to treasure hunt. But what happens to the stuff nobody buys? I shop for stuffed animals at Deseret Industries to get the material to make my art, but there's always way more than i can get. An employee at the DI told me that whatever doesn't get sold MUST be destroyed. There's no solution in place to deal with the overflow that doesn't involve a money transaction. Waste isn't just accepted, it's their policy. *Community Most of us pride ourselves on being part of a community. But we all know it wouldn't be what it is without artists. But too many of us feed into the system buying our playa gear from corporate America. Buy local and support local artists to keep our community strong. |

![]() Much of what we buy is made by slave labor in 3rd world countries by under age sweat shop labor just to pad the wallet of corporations and destroy local economies. All Easy Street Stuffies are handmade by local artists ( me & my friend Kindra mostly). U.S. trade deficit with China (year to date) *Creation without destruction America is well known for it's art, but also has a reputation for being wasteful. Recycled art is the most pure form of creation. With Stuffies you can stay warm, look creative and one of a kind. And save a few stuffed creatures from ending up in the landfill. ![]() |
